SERVICE

Make your brand unmistakably yours

I help businesses find a visual language that feels particular to them and carries consistently into the places people encounter it. That can mean clarifying the brand's position, creating an identity, shaping product UI or designing and building a website.

A brand needs enough character to be recognisable and enough structure to work beyond one attractive application. I connect the business context with visual judgement, developing a direction that has a reason to exist and can be used in practice.

There are more ways than ever to produce polished visuals, including with AI. Choosing what belongs to a business, what to develop further and what to leave out remains a significant part of the work. We can start with the strategic question or build on an existing identity, depending on what is already clear.

WHERE YOUR BRAND NEEDS DIRECTION

  • Clarify what makes the business worth choosing

Establish a meaningful position before deciding how the brand should look and speak. Brand positioning gives the creative work a foundation: who the business is for, which needs it addresses and why someone would consider it alongside the available alternatives.

It also involves choices about what to emphasise and which audiences or expectations to prioritise.

I help bring those choices into a direction your team can use, with personality, messaging priorities and implications for visual expression. If the position is already well established, we can work from it. If it is still taking shape, we can investigate the questions that will make the later design work more focused.

  • Give the brand a visual language of its own

Develop an identity around a coherent idea, with enough flexibility for the places it needs to work. A visual identity can draw on typography, colour, imagery, illustration, composition and a mark. The relationship between those elements gives the brand its character and helps people recognise it across different settings.

I explore possible directions, explain the thinking behind them and develop the selected concept into a usable system. My CO.LABS concept, for example, explored how a flexible graphic element could express the character of a performing-arts space. The same attention to meaning and application guides work for other kinds of businesses.

  • Carry that character into the product

Translate the visual direction into interface foundations, components and patterns people can use confidently. A product interface has practical responsibilities alongside its visual identity. It needs to make information understandable, interactions predictable and different states easy to recognise.

Brand character can support those tasks through considered choices of type, colour, imagery and behaviour.

UI foundations and design systems turn those choices into reusable components and guidance. I can help establish a compact foundation for a new product or bring consistency to an existing one. The system grows from actual product needs and gives designers and developers a shared reference for future work.

  • Make the website express the business clearly

Bring the offer, identity and enquiry journey together in a distinctive website ready for launch. A website gives people a place to understand the business, assess its credibility and decide whether to take the next step.

Its structure and content matter as much as the impression it creates.

I design and build production-ready websites, carrying the visual direction into responsive layouts, useful content and a practical editing setup. We can work from an existing identity or develop the direction as part of the project. The delivery scope can include the agreed pages, CMS, forms and integrations, so the site is prepared for the way your business intends to use it.
