Prototyping & user testing

I make ideas tangible early enough for people to influence them. Prototypes and user testing help investigate whether an experience makes sense, where people struggle and which assumptions need more attention before a larger build.
A prototype can be a simple sketch, a service walkthrough, a clickable interface or a working experience.
The appropriate form depends on what we need to learn. A polished visual design may help communicate a direction, while a rough prototype can be sufficient to investigate a task.
We also distinguish usability from value. Watching someone complete a journey tells us something different from learning whether the product addresses a need in their life. I help frame the question, create the prototype and turn the findings into useful design or product decisions.
WHAT WE CAN TEST BEFORE A FULL BUILD
Choose the question and the right kind of prototype
Match the prototype to the uncertainty, with enough detail to answer the question credibly. We start by identifying the decision the test should inform. Are people able to understand the concept? Can they complete a particular task?
Does an AI-supported interaction behave usefully with realistic input? Each question calls for a different level of detail.
I can create rough concepts, interactive Figma prototypes and functioning examples within the agreed scope. We make any simulated behaviour explicit when interpreting the results. Where a question depends on real model behaviour, an integration or a technical mechanism, a working experiment may be more appropriate than a clickable screen. This keeps the effort focused on useful learning.
See whether people understand and can use it
Observe people working through realistic tasks and identify where the experience creates difficulty. Usability testing gives participants something specific to do while we observe how they approach it. We look for hesitation, misunderstanding, errors and the information they need to move forward.
Follow-up questions help explain what happened without steering the participant towards a preferred answer.
I help select relevant participants, prepare tasks and conduct sessions suited to the product's stage. The findings can reveal issues with navigation, terminology, interaction behaviour or expectations. We interpret them in relation to the people and tasks studied, with a clear distinction between an observed difficulty and a broader conclusion about the whole audience.
Explore whether the idea matters in real life
Investigate the proposition, its relevance and the practical barriers to trying something new. People can use a product successfully and still have little reason to adopt it. Concept and proposition testing explores that question by connecting the idea with existing habits, alternatives and circumstances.
We can use a prototype to make the offer understandable, then investigate when someone might use it, what it would replace and what could get in the way. Some questions require evidence beyond a session, such as participation in a pilot or repeated use over time. I help identify the appropriate next experiment and keep positive feedback in proportion to what the study actually demonstrates.
Turn what we learn into the next version
Translate findings into revisions, priorities and a more informed next step. I bring the results together around the original questions, showing the evidence behind the most important observations. We can prioritise usability issues, revisit an assumption or refine a promising concept, then update the prototype where that will help.
The outcome may include an annotated prototype, a concise findings report and recommendations for further design or research. If the unresolved question concerns feasibility, a proof of concept may be the next step. If it concerns real use, a functioning MVP or controlled pilot may be more informative. The work gives the team a practical route forward and a record of what informed it.
