Product strategy & go-to-market strategy

Pitching the Aalto Global Impact concept on stage

I help connect what you build with whom it is for and how those people will first encounter it. Product and go-to-market strategy gives an early offer a focused audience, a coherent scope and a practical route into use.

Product strategy sets the direction: the value you want to create, the choices that distinguish the offer and the priorities guiding development.

Go-to-market strategy considers how that offer reaches its first customers, how it is explained and what helps people begin using it.

I approach the two together because the launch promise and the product experience need to support each other. The engagement focuses on decisions your team can act on, using research, product concepts and explicit hypotheses to shape the first release and its introduction.

DECISIONS THAT SHAPE THE FIRST RELEASE

  • Choose the first audience and the value to offer

Focus the product on a group of people and a need it can address meaningfully. A product may have several potential audiences, but the first version needs a useful point of focus.

We examine which group has a relevant need, what they currently use and what would give them a reason to consider your offer.

I help articulate the value proposition and the choices behind it, including the circumstances in which the product is most useful. We draw on available research and identify where a decision remains a hypothesis. The result gives later design and communication work a specific reference: the people we are serving, the problem we are addressing and why this approach deserves their attention.

  • Define what belongs in the product

Translate the direction into priorities, a coherent first experience and deliberate scope decisions. Strategy becomes visible in what the team chooses to build. We connect the proposition with essential user tasks, compare possible features and identify the smallest complete experience that can deliver the intended value.

I can help establish product principles, define the initial scope and organise the roadmap around outcomes and learning. That includes identifying dependencies and separating what is necessary now from what can wait. Your developers can contribute to feasibility and effort as the direction takes shape. The aim is a product the team can describe consistently and develop without losing sight of its purpose.

  • Plan how to reach and onboard early customers

Connect the initial offer, messaging and acquisition approach with the experience people will actually receive. The first customers need a reason to pay attention, a credible explanation of the value and a manageable way to start.

We consider where those people already look for solutions, which relationships or channels could reach them and what a useful initial offer might be.

The work can include pilot design, messaging priorities, onboarding and hypotheses about pricing or packaging. We also examine what needs to happen around the product, such as demonstrations, support or a conversation with a buyer. These choices give marketing, sales and product collaborators a shared starting point for introducing the offer.

  • Set up a launch that can teach you something

Choose useful signals and review points so early activity informs the next investment. An early launch should make important assumptions easier to assess. We define the behaviours that would suggest people understand the offer, reach its intended value and have a reason to return or pay.

The relevant signals depend on the product and its stage.

I help connect those signals with feedback and practical decisions: where the experience needs improving, whether the audience is appropriate and which part of the offer deserves further work. We distinguish attention from adoption and early interest from a sustainable business. The strategy becomes something the team can revisit as evidence develops.
